Ford reveals Welsh reasons
Jonathan Ford, the chief executive of the Welsh FA, has revealed to SoccerArena why Wales opposed England and voted in favour of Sepp Blatter.
• John Brewin: Reform the only way
• Sponsors could force change
• Bernstein: FA took stand on principle
• DFB call for 2022 vote probe
The English FA chairman David Bernstein found himself isolated with precious few supporters for his motion to delay the FIFA's presidential elections in order to find a credible opponent for Blatter.
Indeed, Ford disagrees with England's stance, which was backed by Scotland but few others, and the way they went about making the point.
He said: "If anyone can prove that Sepp Blatter had done anything wrong, it would be a different matter. But no one has, so I don't accept it is not still legitimate to vote for him.
"At the end of the day we want someone to steer the ship, and it is surely better to have someone steer the ship with their hand on the helm. Ultimately there is nothing that Sepp Blatter has done wrong to warrant anyone to abstain from voting for him.
"The idea that this was a one horse race is nonsense, it is wrong. Platini was voted in without any opposition; David Bernstein himself was promoted to the job at FA Chairman.
"We want the world football to be run in the best possible way, and that means running the ship with someone at the helm."
